I am sure we have all been there. We attempt to make a changes in our lives, changes for the better with the intent of finding improvement in some area.

What happens next? Quite often something or someone comes in to the picture with the intent (conscious or unconscious) of throwing us off course. Maybe a parent or your lover or perhaps life may throw you a situation that takes your mind off your new found course.

Why does this tend to happen so often? For me, this natural resistance seems to show up just as I am making the greatest strides in all the right directions. Something always comes in, no matter how briefly it may remain, that throws my attention some other way.

It can come in many ways and in many versions. Perhaps it comes when you are learning something new, in the form of some struggle and confusion while adapting to the new stimulus. Or perhaps a parent or friend accuses you of wishful thinking while you are embracing a new path toward a deeper spirituality or way of life.

I mean, truly, I have seen resistance come in at the oddest moments.

Bill Harris, the creator of Holosync technology and founder of Centerpointe Research Institute, talks about chaos theory.

To sum it up, chaos theory suggests that, as more energy is poured into a system (as you begin attempting to learn a new math problem for instance) the systems initial reaction is to break down (you may get confused in the initial stages of learning the math problem).

Then comes the point of resistance. And, what we tend to see happen as a result of pushing through this resistance at the end point of this period of chaos is that the system reorganizes itself at a higher level of capacity than it had before the energy entered into it (you push through the confusion of the initial learning process and you solidify your understanding of the new problem and are now able to move on to solve higher level equations).

As a result of practicing meditation with holosync, and of the development of my current lifestyle in a general sense, I have become acutely aware of those things that come in as resistance and I have learned to  identify them as they arise.

By becoming aware of the resistance as it comes up, I have allowed myself to change my reactions and to develop a deeper emotional stability in relation to seeming negative stimulus.

What most of us tend to do (and I did this for years) is hold onto the negative energy and give it strength within our awareness. And, this is why we get knocked off course. When this energy is allowed to disperse, it moves through us just like anything else and we are then allowed to return to a more balanced state of mind. .

Why do so many people fail at these moments? Why do they fall prey to the resistance that shows up?

Maybe we have to look at the nature of resistance differently to understand this. Perhaps if we looked at these deep and trying times in our lives, when stress and anxiety are highest, as tests or challenges to overcome then they would contribute to the strengthening of our minds.

I think whats most important is to stop resisting the resistance. Its the act of resisting these tough circumstances, out of anger or fear, that gives them attention. And, that in its nature makes them stronger. And then that inevitably makes these times in our lives so much more difficult.

Now, that is not to downplay these stresses, anxieties, and emotions. I will not say that they are not there for a reason. Or, that they are only in a persons head. Because we all have things in life to deal with, hard situations that are hoisted upon us by others.

Believe me when I say, I understand this.

But, I also realize, that as a person who was once quick to anger, guilt, shame, depression, and aggression, it was not until I began to look at these feelings as they came up, that I began to become more centered in myself and in the face of others and in the world.

I see so many who are angry at others, who refuse to forgive or release their anger towards the abuses that someone else wrought. I understand this because it doesn’t make sense at all that anyone should suffer at the hands (or mouth) of someone else.

But, if you harbor anger towards others, guilt, shame, if you resist those things that scare you, all you are doing is making life harder on yourself.

Stop resisting the resistance. Just the other day, I had someone close to me start yelling at me for pretty much no reason at all. And, now I am not gonna say I didn’t argue back.

But at some point I just stopped. I let them complete their rant because I knew that this was just another form of resistance coming at me from the universe as a test. It was a test to see if I am internalizing all the things I am trying to learn and develop in myself.

I failed miserably at the outset but I feel that I can look on that situation with a sense of gratitude for at least coming to that realization.

I stopped resisting it, made sense of it, allowed it, and now it has passed. Or at least I am not letting if affect me.

That is my two cents. My eyes are hurting so I’m gonna take a break from this thing.

Thank you all for all of your support!

Peace, Love, Life!

Hello Everyone,

I hope this post finds you all well. I wanted to write today about something that is possibly the most difficult hurdle for most people to get over when it comes to getting in shape, losing weight, or making just about any change that might make their lives better.

In my book, there is a section entitled Opening up to Love and in it, I basically go over the small part of us all that oftentimes keeps us from making beneficial changes.

At this point, I don’t think anyone would disagree that in our culture we have a hard time with things like self esteem, self respect, and self love. We want to be everyone’s friend. We ask and ask and ask for others to love us but we never find that love that we seek.

We live dependent on everyone else’s opinions of us. And, we never truly look deeply within ourselves to find out what it is that we want.

We tend not to love ourselves enough and this has to change. Until we find appreciation for ourselves we will not take the steps necessary to change. Deep down we do not believe we deserve to change. And, so on the surface it just seems like we are not motivated.

We may encounter short spurts of inspiration but those never really take hold and so we fall short. We rely on our emotions to tell us what we need. And, those emotions are always dependent on external stimuli.

Right now, you need to look deeply into yourself. Right now, you need to decide what you want for yourself. Right now, the change needs to be started so that the results you receive from the changes you make create the feelings that motivate you further.

Motivation is not something that just shows up and it is not something that you need to wait for. For most, desperation needs to ensue, rock bottom needs to be reached before a change is made.

Haha….well you need only look outside your door. Look at the news or read a newspaper and you will see rock bottom. Look at the untold millions of people dying everyday and suffering for no reason at all. I’m sure you know someone or a few people who have suffered from diabetes, or heart disease, or cancer, obesity, or Alzheimer’s.

Maybe you yourself are one of those people. But, yet you are waiting for the motivation to hit. Look in the mirror and you will see your motivation.

Love of self…

Peace, Love, Light!

Greetings,

I hope all is well.

I wanted to go over something that has become clearer to me over the past few years.

Things may seem pretty bleak when we look out our windows and into the world. But, I truly beg to differ. The only reason for this is because I have opened myself up to a new way of looking at the life I live.

So many people that I meet believe that I grew up in a family of vegans and vegetarians. They think that I have just always had a flair for healthy living. But, once again, I beg to differ!

In fact, I chuckle to myself a little when folks tell me things like that because it is so far from the truth. The truth of the matter is that I was pretty typically unconscious for the majority of my early life.

I ate everything. I didn’t exercise at all. I thought yoga, tofu, vegetarianism, and spirituality were all kind of a joke.

What can I say? I was a complete skeptic.

The point of this rant is that I made a choice to live for some higher purpose. I listened to that inner voice that told me there was something better out there for me. I have in no way found actualization in this direction. But, I have found a direction.

More so, I created a direction, a whole new direction.

This only happened because I chose to open myself up to other possibilities. I felt that a different kind of life was needed to achieve personal satisfaction and so the search began for me to find it.

Right now, today, the world and its people are being given a choice.

Junk foods or superfoods, centrum or goji berries.

Google is the perfect example of an entity that serves choice. You arrive at their webpage and can either open up to a world of debauchery or a world of enlightened consciousness.

Google can either open up a world where every possibility exists for you to waste away every moment of your life, or you can choose something different. You can choose to learn something new, to expand your knowledge, to build a name for yourself, to build a business.

The choice is yours as it always is. We each have to be the ones to choose the things we want for our lives.

But, the key is, to choose to not choose. We have to get out of the world of duality. We have to realize that the borders that seem to separate us, are more like thresholds that bring us together.

We have to learn to acknowledge, accept, and allow everything to flow. We have to learn to stop resisting things we don’t like.

To do this, all of this, is once again, a choice.

Choose to open up, to allow new possibilities to arise for your life, to stop looking at things as opposites, and to realize that everything is here to teach us something.

Disease teaches us that we need to take an active approach toward healing ourselves. Economic disaster teaches that we need to re-prioritize.

We can learn from success, but we can learn even more from failure.

Choose. Just choose.

Peace, love, Life!

At this juncture in our earths history, as we move into the age of Aquarius, I believe it is necessary that the concept of the feminine be given a larger part of our attention.

It certainly has mine.

Divine, empowered, impassioned, creative and spirited feminine is quite the antithesis to the masculine frequency of control, manipulation, single pointed focus, logic, power and freedom that has had us all locked into the cycle of chaos that we see in the world today.

The interplay of feminine and masculine has to be looked at both on a macrocosmic as well as a microcosmic scale, if we are to truly understand ourselves and the direction in which we are headed as a collective.

Everyone living today has both a masculine and feminine side. These dual energies do not exist exclusively but interdependently. And, just as light cannot exist without darkness, masculine cannot exist without feminine.

In all actuality, it is simple to understand how these energies relate to one another. The feminine exists within art, music, culture, sexuality, creation, and love in all facets. The masculine exists as a force, a mechanism that drives the world forward. The two questions are, “How do these two energies relate to one another?” and, “What is the purpose in understanding this?”

It is actually rather simple. The masculine drive for freedom is fueled by the inspiration of the feminine. At his base, a man’s true nature is to drive the world around him forward. He seeks to improve all of that which he sees before him so that one day he can achieve freedom. This is easily depicted in the manifestation of our current male sexual practices. A man will thrust until his orgasmic energies build up to a point of climax and then release.

But, the feminine is quite different in that she represents the continuous universal and energetic flow. The true nature of the universe is to flow continuously which reveals the error within the masculine journey towards release and freedom. In this, another truth is revealed in that the nature of the cosmos and of creation itself is in large part directed by feminine forces. And, this is why we must all take it upon ourselves to bring her back into our conscious awareness.

The world has been assaulted by a religious and political hierarchy that exulted the masculine while disparaging the feminine (i.e. the Garden of Eden creation myth). And, we can clearly see the negative impact this has had. The feminine has not truly gone anywhere. But, she has been looked down upon for her emotional embodiment and convicted for things that we do not fully comprehend.

When you open your eyes to what is really going on, it is quite beautiful to see the interplay. And, it is my belief that we must all embrace not only the feminine energies but the balance of both sides. As we move into a new cosmic cycle, we must find a way to see both sides of ourselves and embrace this without judgment. A man is not just a man and a woman is not just a woman.

On the level of the physical, yes this is the case, but on the level of the etheric, we are one. And as the story unfolds, we will see that what is at the base of all of our struggles is an inability to find oneness within ourselves and a balance between all forces in nature, in ourselves, and in the universe.

I can not claim to understand the feminine in even the most miniscule of ways, but I will admit that I am utterly fascinated by it. By its power to inspire, to shine its light in a myriad of ways, and to intoxicate and enliven our sense of being and of purpose. Without the feminine, the masculine would be useless and life would not exist. For within the feminine exists the singular light of inspiration and creation.

After thousands of years of feminine suppression, I feel that it is time to bring her back in. We have destroyed the planet and, with it, ourselves. We have raped mother earth and have disavowed our divine conscious connection to it. We need her, now more than ever, to reclaim her place in all universal aspects, and to contribute to the creation of a more balanced nature within us all.

Man without art, life, spirituality, and love is nothing but a heartless slave for the corporate industrial machine. Woman, without her own essence, becomes a shell of what she could be. The divine feminine, has to be rediscovered, understood, relished, and appreciated for what it truly is. We must find a balance between the masculine need for freedom and the feminine need for creative expression.

Intuitively, I feel we are on that path. Cosmic energies are aligning. This is what is coming. At least that is what I feel. And, for the sake of our planet and everyone on it, I hope that I am right.

Peace, Love, Light!

This is a topic that I am sure we all give a good bit of thought to. What is monogamy? Why has it become so intrinsically linked with the value system of our society? Is there a purpose that is served with the acquisition of it?

Well, we can address the question of purpose by saying that monogamy is needed for marriage to work. Marriage is needed for procreation to come about. And, procreation leads to the completion of the family. Within all those aspects are thought to be contained an intrinsic and absolute expression of love throughout.

All of the above, is absolutely true. Monogamy is absolutely necessary for a man and a woman to achieve a family. And that can indeed be considered to be at the pinnacle of happiness in this life. So, why do so many marriages and relationships fail? And, why are so many families being torn apart because either the man, woman, or both come to the conclusion that they are unfulfilled in some way?

This has always been the tough part to get for me. It is surprising that while so many relationships are failing, so many of us continue to press on, searching for that person that will finally complete us. Either side certainly has ample reason to blame the one opposing because both play an active role in this vicious cycle. But why is it this way?

I have concluded that we have come to look at the ideas of relationship, love, and sexuality in such a limited way, and from such a merely material perspective, that we have become unable to see the higher purpose of anyone of them. What do you think that could be? Do you think it is possible that these concepts can even have a purpose other than the aforementioned?

Well, if we look at them in the order in which they were originally intended, first there has existed the individual man and woman. They at some point meet and through a general attraction for each other, love is found. Then sexual union would be followed by the creation of a new living being.

If we look at that idea from the point of view of many of the ancient Taoist teachings we find that even in their system of spiritual cultivation the same thing exists but in an existential (rather than material) way. In those cultures, each individual would first be shown ways to cultivate their own singular conscious awareness, through meditation and so forth.

As that awareness increased then it would be obvious that another cultivated being would be needed for either person to reach a new level, the highest level, of ultimate consciousness. This would be done through a kind of ritualistic sexual alchemical union to produce the immortal seed.

Is it possible that the men and women of today are simply seeking to satisfy their need to experience this higher state without realizing it? I am sure no one would deny that they feel the happiest when they are connecting with another person. I know this for certain and have experienced it. Is it not pretty easy to see that the experience of orgasm is simply the highest and most satisfying expression of that connection?

I think it is. The fact that a whole new life can be sparked by this makes it pretty clear. There is such an abundance of energy within the experience of orgasm that it can almost mimic satori or samadhi in many ways.

It is unfortunate that so many people are beating themselves down emotionally by running around trying frantically to find that one person that they can spend their lives with without understanding the true underlying purpose.

As I said, you are never as fundamentally happy, as when you are connecting emotionally with another person. But to look at it so one-dimensionally puts us at odds with ourselves. Perhaps we can look at it another way. Perhaps we should begin to view it in a way that helps the idea of monogamy make more sense than it seems to at the moment.

What would happen if we changed our priorities a bit and if, instead we had as our top priority, personal cultivation?. Maybe the achievement of true love of another would come much easier because it would be simply an extension of the existing love that we have cultivated within.

If I achieved an overabundance of love for myself, does it not make sense that it would spill over into almost a need to express that excess of love to another (instead of only wanting to…be loved by another)?

And, then, the next would be to realize that that mutual connection, that other person, is needed for me to reach even higher levels of realization.

That other person would then seem more like a vessel or channel for self actualization. That would be opposed to the current idea of being merely someone to spend time with, or grow old with. That idea has been romanticized to death, but it really isn’t so romantic.

The idea of having a partner in life who is helping me to bring about my own capacity for understanding myself and the world around me. Now THAT is romantic.

If that idea was put in place and acted out maybe then could the idea of monogamy actual work quite well.

I know that there is nothing I want more than to find that person that will help me achieve a higher level of spiritual understanding. And I have no problem waiting for that person to show up in my life. And, when they do, if I am pure and spiritually evolved and complete, I haven’t even the slightest doubt that it will be right.

Folks….what do YOU think?

Peace, Love, Light!

Enlightenment is the end of suffering – Buddha

I found the above quote being used in the status of a friend on myspace recently, and, from what I have learned over my years of seeking that elusive thing called enlightenment, I believe that the quote is pretty accurate. Though, upon first glance, any such notion can be thought of as impossible.

In the past decade or so, I have gone from a complete skeptic to an avid student of much regarding this process and even still take this concept with a grain of salt. But, from the standpoint of looking at the true nature of what the concept means, it is clear to see that when someone becomes enlightened, they truly do end their suffering.

Now, what does it mean to be enlightened? And, how does the average person achieve such a state? I used to really believe that the notion of enlightenment was kind of pointless to say the least. When I did not understand what it was, I suppose, it seemed so far away.

Over the past year or so I have become an avid practitioner of Centerpointe’s Holosync Solution Program and I am currently working my way through the second level of the Awakening series. I have been studying the support materials, which are truly vast, as well as the Big Mind, Big Heart and Path of the Human Being dvd and cd sets which came along with level one of the series.

I suppose I have mentioned my experience with Holosync in passing. But, it truly has been pretty life changing. I actually had my initial experience with Awakening Prologue around mid 2006. And, I noticed significant changes in my ability to control my states of awareness and, as I noticed while using the Wild Divine Biofeedback software, my ability to see and catalyze noticeable changes in my state of relaxation.

To explain a bit of what it is, I would say that the Holosync Program uses technology that effects the states of the brain through music. Its a binaural beat technology that enables the brain to enter into certain rhythms or states.

I have used other brainwave music soundtracks before, but the reason I settled on Centerpointe’s Holosync Solution program, is simply because Bill Harris has really designed a very structured and progressive way of strengthening your mind and enhancing it’s ability to deal with higher and higher levels of stress.

By enabling you to deal with more stress, you react less to the situations in life that, under normal circumstances, would have really bothered you.
What happens then? Whats the point?

Well, this process of enabling you to deal with ever increasing levels of stress, helps you to create a space inside your mind that grows between your emerging and expanding self and the stress that used to control you.

To be honest, what the technology actually does is provide a stimulus that is similar to stress, and that stress forces your brain to develop in such a way that actually makes it stronger. It is kind of like the stress that exercise places on us but applied to the functioning of the brain.

It creates a kind of subtle chaos in your brain and by continuing to use the soundtracks, your brain eventually is forced to “escape to a higher order” and it grows to be able to deal with higher levels of stress. When you deal better with stress, what then happens?

Well, simply put, you suffer less than you once did. You develop a greater peace, by increasing awareness of your states of mind or consciousness.

Isn’t this what meditation is supposed to do? I like to think that meditation in conjunction with shadow work enables me to realize that we are not really living in a world that is dualistic….but that everything that arises in our conscious mind is in fact of the same nature as anything else. Depending on our perception, anything can go from good to bad.

Zen, Taoism, and just about any other justifiable self help technology or religion, teaches that nothing exists exclusively from anything else. They teach us that what is good cannot exist without what is bad. Or that light cannot exist without dark. Men cannot exist without women, and up would not be knowable without down.

In all of the wisdom traditions, it is explained that balance in mind and emotion is what is needed to find lasting personal growth?

I think what is most confusing about that idea is that no one is ever truly able to explain how that growth really manifests. What does it mean to achieve balance? And, why does it have a correlation with enlightenment and the mind?

When you begin the process of meditation, growth, and spiritual development, you begin to see how hard life is. Awareness is the ability to see and experience the difficulties in life, and NOT REACT to them. And, as awareness begins to increase, many aspects of our lives which were once hidden from us begin to come up.

It is when we react to the difficulties in life that we cause ourselves emotional and mental pain. In other words, the pain we experience in life, the suffering that we typically blame on external circumstances, comes from within our own minds and from our reactions to life!

Balance is the ability to have good or bad circumstances come our way and not overtly react to them in a way that creates stress. It is the ability to go through life and no longer require those things that typically distract us from ourselves.

Television, drugs, video games, unconscious and unloving sexual activity, anger, depression, self loathing, binge eating, are all there to distract us from ourselves and prevent us from finding ( or deciding on) our higher purpose.

Everything in life, we are finding, is brought about as a direct manifestation of things that are inside of our own minds.

Life is what you make it. Or, rather, life is what you perceive it to be.

Life and the universe are simply reflections of our ego. They are mirrors of our own consciousness. Just as a computer is only as good as its programmer, the results of your life will only be as good as the input you knowingly or unknowingly provide.

And the ego, what is this ego? It is a grouping or map of the unconscious habits that we have developed in order to keep us safe in, what we perceive to be, an unsafe world.

Everything we do unconsciously is a reflection of the patterns that we have solidified within our ego.

Wouldn’t meditation, time spent in contemplation, time spent in conscious love communion with your partner, in all actuality, be better and more functional ways to decompress than grabbing a beer and turning on the television?

The whole point, is to develop your awareness, to the point that you can stay conscious throughout your day of your self and your interactions with others and with your world.

Do the work to expand yourself consciously!

Watch yourself as you go throughout your day. Open up the dialog with the voice in the back of your mind.

This is far from an easy process but, trust me, it is worth it in the end.

Peace, Love, Light!
